David Bianchi

david-bianchi David Bianchi started his career in music playing in bands such as Cubanate and C-tec on the industrial scene in the UK and USA, before getting involved in live production and club promotion – everything from starting one of the first ‘Brit Pop’ club nights in London at The Rocket on Holloway Road, Stage Production on hit TV show ‘TFI Friday’, Spotlights for Pink Floyd (!), and stage building for everyone from The Rolling Stones to Tina Turner.

He then started working for Green Island, a management company based in Ladbroke Grove known for managing Mark Morrison/Gabrielle and China Black amongst others. It was here that he got his first hand managing bands, putting together a prescient roster of mainly rock and metal: Californian punks Amen (Virgin/Columbia), UK sludgecore nutters Raging Speedhorn (ZTT/EPIC/SPV), legendary post punkers Killing Joke (Spinefarm Universal), and Austin rockers Young Heart Attack (XL).

Leaving Green Island to start Grand Union Management, David quickly diversified his roster, first taking on Boy Kill Boy (Mercury Records), UK Gold Certified Album, Debuted at No 16 on the UK Album Charts; The Enemy (Warner Bros) Album One WLADITT, Platinum Certified Album, Debuted at No 1 on UK album charts, Album Two MFTP debuted at No 2 on UK Album Charts, Gold Certified Album; Seasick Steve DHM (Warner Bros) Album One, UK Double Gold Certification, Album 2 ISOWN debuted Number 8 UK Charts, Platinum certified Album.

David left Grand Union in 2010 and opened a new company Various Artists Management, taking The Enemy and Killing Joke with him, whilst welcoming Reverend & The Makers, Echo & The Bunnymen, Peter Murphy/Bauhaus, Carl Barat of (Libertines/Dirty Pretty Things) to the fold. David then handled the reformation of The Libertines and their subsequent headline slots at Reading and Leeds.

2010 saw Various Artists signing Charli XCX to the roster and on to Atlantic/Asylum Records (debut indie single ‘Stay Away’ was released in early 2011 and her first album came out in 2013, to rave reviews worldwide.)

Charli XCX also busied herself writing and featured on one of the biggest global hits of the year, Icona Pop ft. Charli XCX’s ‘I Love It’, a tune that’s amassed over 5 million sales and counting, leaving it Platinum and multi-Platinum in 13 countries, whilst riding high in the USA’s Billboard Top 10 with a monstrous 2 million sales.

Various Artists have recently taken on Hounds (Universal) who sound-tracked ‘CSI: New York’ and Quentin Tarantino’s ‘The Man with the Iron Fists,’ as well as talented-beyond-their-years Sheffield newcomers Liberty Ship from Sheffield, Nick McCabe and Si Jones from The Verve’s new band Black Submarine. This as well as London newcomers Eyes On Film signed to MI7/Island Records who have been all over Radio 1 specialist in early 2013
